Since 2011, Mozambique has seen the demise of an estimated 4 Elephant a day due to Poaching. Crippling their population from an estimated 12 000 Elephant to as few as 1 500 according to a conservation group.

Main Land Chine, being the biggest source of global Ivory Demand, has banned the sales of Ivory as of the 01st January 2018, after shutting down all shops and factories dealing in Ivory in March 2017

A month later, 31st January 2018 Hong Kong politicians vowed to impose a law against the trade of Ivory in the region by 2021. Hong Kong is thought to be the worlds largest retails Ivory market.

The WWF (World Wildlife Fund) has called to all governments on other Asian countries such as Vietnam, Cambodia, Japan to institute similar bans, saying there was evidence of an increase of sales to Chinese tourist into those countries.
