President Donald Trump reverses ban on
Elephant Trophy imports into the USA
President Trump’s administration has lifted the ban implemented by Barack Obama on importation of Elephant Trophies killed in Zimbabwe and Zambia into the United States of America.
A US Fish and Wildlife spokesperson stated the move will allow the two African countries to include US sport hunting into their Game Management Programs which will allow for much needed revenue being injected back into conservation.
This is a positive move for Zimbabwe and Zambia and demonstrates the FWS recognises that hunting is beneficial to wildlife conservation and that two countries know how to manage their elephants.
We at Bruce Watson African Safari’s appreciate the efforts of the Service and the US Department of Interior on removing the barriers for the sustainable and ethical conservation of African Wildlife.
